NAME: Silvana Myr
CANON: Original

CANON POINT: After the end of the final battle in the Scale War, having awoken from her hibernation

BACKGROUND:
Silvana lives in a world named Falyra where fantasy is reality; dragons, demons, spirits, dwarves, elves, humans and the like all exist, and not always in harmony. In her world, there are people known as Dragon Riders, traditionally mages that rise up and put themselves through immense challenges in order to win the trust, respect and bond with a dragon; Silvana is one of these people, but rather than being magical she is a warrior, the first in centuries to achieve this status without the use of spellwork.

✖ Silvana was born to a family well known for it's mercenary work and it's lineage of honour, pride and strength. Fighting well was an ideal to work towards, of course, but it was not as grand to them as fighting with honour; no matter what they did, it was done honourably, graciously with with due respect. It is this thought and this nature that allowed her kin to rise up and become as well known as they are, leading to the world that Silvana was brought up in: one where honour was the most important trait and strength was not just in power, but in heart.

✖ Her immediate family was quite simple; her mother, father, brother and sister, all strong and trained warriors, dedicated to their work. In Falyran society it is more traditional for there to be a matriarchal line of leadership and this, too, was the case for the Myr family - the mother lead, taught and trained with her children, with the father for support and strength, working in tandem together to keep the house and their small standing army supported and funded by the kingship they followed.

✖ Dragons, by nature, were dangerous and a great force, and the whispers of Dragon Riders had turned to myth in the tide of the fall of the beasts themselves. Fear and hatred, tied with jealousy to those that claimed a Dragon as their partner, caused the world to rise up against the fanged beasts, slaughtering as many as they could until whispers of extinction echoed across the lands.

✖ Ever since she was a young girl, Silvana had wanted to become one of the fabled Dragon Riders. In Falyran mythology, the ideal of Dragon Riders had fallen into stories and fables, and the idea of someone achieving such a thing seemed ridiculous and entirely out of reach. That was not enough to dissuade Silvana, however, and her stubbornness pushed her forward to grasp all the things she would need to track down a dragon, perform the trials and bond as surely as any others had done before her.

✖ It took her six years to find her path, during which time she was apart from her family and they thought she was dead. Upon finding the Falyai Dracyn, the home of Dragons, a high rising mountain deep at the furthest edge of the world, she was put to test to see how she would handle herself in a set and series of tests and trials. Each task was to judge her character, and went as follows:

- First was a test of her physicality, a fight against a mirage of herself that required power and thought to overrule. When she learned that her strength was matched, she was forced to adapt, to use tactics and her mind to overcome herself - literally. Many that face these trials fall victim to the theory that force is the greatest of powers, be it magical or otherwise, and fail before they start.

- Second was a test of wit, a series of near impossible clues that lead to the single item that would open the door to the next room. The riddles were based upon mythology and the history of Dragons - anyone that would wish to be Bonded were required, after all, to understand the dangers and the threat that came with giving oneself over.

- Third was a test of her heart, to see visions of an uncertain and dangerous future that she would have to understand were a consequences of her choices; she was seeing futures that were possible if she were Bonded, the deaths of her families and the rise and fall of powerful cities and families, but also the chance of strength, corruption and mode. Only by understanding the ramifications of her choice to Bond herself would she be truly allowed to go through. Those that cannot bear the loss of their families, their lands or cities, are not prepared for the price that joining with a Dragon would ask.

- Finally, was a test of choice. To be a Dragon Rider is to live through the ages, to see people come and go, but it is not to abuse your powers and use them for ill intent. In the final room, Silvana was met with a child that claimed that the final task was a trial of blood, that Silvana must kill her in order to be bonded with a dragon; an act of murder for no reason, not an honourable thing that she had been raised to believe in. Silvana refused to kill the girl and, so, proved she had a good and just heart that would be well received by the Dragonkin.
✖ With her trials complete, Silvana was guided through to a room and asked to place her hands upon a pedestal. When she touched the black marble, her spirit left her and she moved forward into the caves beyond, to find her Partner. In recent history, the power of Dragons had faded with their loss of life and there were few left. The one that chose Silvana was a young blue dragon named Eytel, determined and fierce, sure of herself and set to fight and prove that she could make the dragons great once more.

✖ Once bonded, Silvana and Eytel shared one mind and one heart; she could see through her Dragon's eyes, ride with her, and was bonded to her eternally through the joining of their spirits. It is this that makes becoming a Dragon Rider such a great and dangerous task; while you are given strength and life from your Dragon companion you are also victim to their weaknesses, their pain and their suffering. Any wounds and hurts Eytel took would be mirrored on Silvana, and the same the other way. It was this that had, in time, made the destruction of Dragons such an easy task.

✖ With her heart tied and her mission complete, Silvana moved and returned to her home - to find that her family was moving to war. With Etyel at her side, Silvana rose up and stood by her family's side, fighting with her brother and sister and moving to help defend her lands from the invading forces - not simply dangerous beasts but humans, too, that had taken to heart whispering tales of the revival of Dragons and determined that they would take them for their own.

✖ The battle was hard and dangerous, both Dragon and warrior suffering in the wake of it. Silvana nearly lost her arm and became blind in one eye - and it was only the nature of her bond to Eytel and her turned immortality that helped heal it, but not without great pain to the both of them. Having a Dragon on one side turned the tide of this war easily, and together Silvana and her family rose to victory.

✖ Battle complete, Eytel told Silvana that her part in this war was done, and there was something in her future that was required of her. Without a chance to say farewell to her family and her friends, Eytel took Silvana to the depths of the Dragon Home and there they rested, together, in deep hibernation, to heal, live and survive until the Seen Future came and what Eytel had predicted came to pass.

✖ 414 years later, Silvana wakes up to a changed world. Her family is dead, and the descendants have fallen into ruin and poverty in the wake of whispers that they had claimed and lost a Dragon. There are whispers of the true extinction of the entire Dragon race, and that the Riders had turned against their partners and left them to die in order to survive in this new world - with stories and legends passed down of the final Dragon Rider that was lost to the mountains.

✖ During this sleep, Silvana and Eytel dreamed together - they spend four centuries sharing memories, thoughts, dreams and stories, strengthening their bond and becoming all the closer for it. Over time they became more than friends, more than sisters; they were joined as closely as anyone could be, deep and unwavering, and the faith and trust they had in one another was impossible to ignore.

✖ Awaking in this new world, with her family gone and her name shamed, with naught but her partner at her side, Silvana was heartbroken but, at the same time, determined. She would restore the Dragons to their place, and do the same for her family's name.

PERSONALITY
HONOURABLE & RESPECTFUL One of the foundations of the Myr family is their code of honour and pride in their strength of heart; she is honest, kind-hearted to those that have not done anything to suggest that they don't deserve the kindness, respectful and soft-spoken. She refuses to take advantage of the sick, poor or damaged and will never rise up against innocents - and her bond with her Dragon is proof of this, as Dragons would never accept someone that would betray them as a Rider. With honour the last remaining tie to her family's good name it has become even more important to Silvana and she keeps it as close to her heart as she can, determined to never let herself betray her kin.

DETERMINED & STUBBORN It takes a great deal of determination and personal strength to suffer through the trials to become a Dragon Rider, and Silvana proved herself to be both stubborn and determined enough to live through the tasks. She holds true to her morals, and once she has made a decision she is incredibly unlikely to change her mind - hence why she spent six years searching for the Dragons without giving up. She is obstinate, somewhat prone to arguments if she believes that her advice and experience is being ignored and difficult to move, but will concede if she believes that the other person is in the right or has proved their point to be better. She is difficult to move, but she will not push if she learns that she is wrong.

KIND & BLIND Despite the fact that the world had, in a way, turned against her and her family, Silvana is a kind-hearted person. Her connection with Eytel has done no more than expand upon that, giving her, in essence, twice the heart to care, and she is always happy to go out of her way to make sure people are defended, fed, secure and safe. Rising up to fight with her family in a war was easy enough, that was blood, but her choice to stand tall and fight to restore both the Dragons and the world to what it once was, no matter what others think, shows that she sometimes puts others before herself, not thinking what might happen in the long-term; her kindness can be somewhat tunnel-like, blinding her to the ramifications of her choices.

DANGEROUS & PASSIONATE Being honourable and kind does not stop someone from having a fiery streak, and this could be said about Silvana. While she is slow to anger, when it comes she is a force to be reckoned with - she is filled with passion when it comes to the things she cares about, to both ends of the scale; caring too much and hating too much. While hatred is not something that comes naturally to her, there are some people she would never be afraid to admit that she loathed them - the people that slaughtered Eytel's kin, those that wrote ill histories of her family and those that murder for the sake of death rather than to protect and care for others.

WISE & CONFIDENT Her trials proved that Silvana was wise and well-read, having devoured all the histories of Dragons and their strengths and powers. She is educated, in reading, writing and poetry, as well as battle tactics and arms, and has been raised to read both the languages of her people and the language of the rest of her world. It is because of her education and her personal strength that Silvana is confident in herself and in her bond with her Dragon; she knows she has proven herself and has earned that faith in herself and respect from others and she refuses to allow herself to be talked down to or shunned.

COURTEOUS & PROUD Raised in a mercenary home, Silvana knows titles and how to use them, how to curtsey and bow and the proper respect to show others. She is more than happy to give that respect to those that have shown they deserve it and will accept the right of those titles to command her - especially to kings and queens, and lords and ladies. She is, however, proud of herself, her connection to her Dragon and their bond, the strength they share and the role she played in the end of the rise up against her people, and she will not hear a word said against herself or them. Doing so might be enough to spark her passionate anger, even if she tries to grit her teeth and remain polite.

INCENTIVE/FIT:
Silvana's incentive is simple; she wishes to see the Dragons restored to their former strength, that more eggs are able to be born and that they will be safe and protected - and that her family name be restored from the depths of history, if possible. If she is also allowed an egg of her own to take care of, to learn more about Dragons and their nature before Bonding, then she would love that, too!

When it comes to fit, Silvana would take some time to adapt to the technology of Eudio, but not the physicality. During her six years of travel and on the nights before war, Silvana enjoyed the company of men and women alike and took no shame in doing so. She is a sensual creature that enjoys being around others, be it as a companion or more, and has never been drawn to one single person before. She is as free a spirit as Eytel is - but she would refuse to be with someone that did not understand her Bond.

SAMPLES:
They come for her when she is hunting, senses alert and Eytel curled up in the cave, too dangerous for her to be out at flight just now. The world is not prepared to see a Dragon rise from the caves and Silvana will not allow them to stand up and harm her. The less people that know that she is a Rider, that killing her will harm her Partner, that their hearts are one, the better. She will keep Eytel safe, just as Eytel had kept her safe for the last four hundred years.

A crack of a twig behind her makes her turn, hand dropping to the sword at her hip, breathing hard and her lips pressed together to smother the sound. The stranger comes forward and Silvana's eyes narrow, gazing at her and lifting to tilt, to watch her face - and when she sees the stranger smile she turns more dangerous, her jaw tense and her teeth pressing together, feral and dangerous. It's only when she sees that the woman is unarmed that she leans back, shifting to stand up taller, stepping out from between the trees with leather boots creaking below her.

"You should not walk these halls alone, stranger. You might well find yourself harmed. Come, I shall escort you to safety."

The woman smiles, shaking her head.

"Actually, I came to offer you something. Something to make you safe."

Make her safe? Silvana almost replies with a shake of her head and a gentle nudge - this woman doesn't even have a sword - when she goes on.

"You and your Dragon. There is a city, a great one, that has magic and technology that you can't even imagine. We would like to bring you there to help us by being... Intimate with other people, being kind to them, and in return we will grant you a wish of sorts. It would be a trade; you would help us and in return we would help you."

Quiet, Silvana pauses. Her mind whirls, her thoughts twisted, and she moves closer. Reaching out, she lifts her fingers to brush over the mark on the woman's chest, something that has a name upon it, and she pauses before she lifts her eyes.

"This magic. Will it be able to restore what once was? Will it raise those that had died, or bring back those that my Kin has lost? Will that be what your city allows, m'lady, if I should ask it of you?"

(The idea of sex for trade is not unfamiliar to her, after all. When she travelled alone, before, her body has been worth far more than her purse, and she had enjoyed every moment).

When the stranger nods, Silvana breathes out, turning her head to look to the sky. Her eyes close and there's silence as she speaks to her Kin, knowing that this woman, if she knows of Eytel, must also know that she would not leave without her - not for any price. When a gentle, cautious agreement comes, Silvana bows her head, dropping to one knee.

"I shall go, and be in your debt."

ANYTHING ELSE?
Obviously, Silvana is telepathically linked to her Dragon! They can speak to one another, share wounds and some emotion and have a joined spirit. This means that anything that happens to one happens to the other, and they care about one another. It is because of this link to her Dragon that Silvana is immortal, heals faster and is somewhat stronger, but not enough to be overwhelmingly powerful or beyond natural human means. She's still a human woman; she is simply a Rider.

Silvana herself is a Dragon, of course, but she's only about twice the size of an average horse. While Silvana would ask that she be kept the same size, she and Eytel would also accept her being made smaller to make her a little more accessible to the city itself - whatever the Representatives deem fit. Silvana does understand, after all, that her dragon is rather large and dangerous looking.

Finally, she is an adept and well-trained swordswoman. She is smart, tactically educated and quick, a warrior through and through. She is not capable with all weapons, however, only the sword she was given by her mother, and that is the only weapon she would ask to bring with her.
